She is a trained virologist that first undertook research at the French Institute for Health and Medical Research in Strasbourg where she was awarded her PhD in 1995. After a two-year post-doc position at the German Cancer Research Centre in Heidelberg, Germany, she joined the Ploufragan-Plouzané Laboratory of the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety (Anses, ex-CNEVA and ex-AFSSA), France, in 1998. She worked on avian reoviruses for two years before to develop expertise in viral diseases of swine (Classical and African Swine Fevers, Aujeszky’s Disease, Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome, Swine Influenza). She is deputy-head of the Swine Virology Immunology Unit since 2004. She is project manager in swine flu for 8 years and heads the French National Reference Laboratory for Swine Influenza since its setting up in 2009. Her current work about swine influenza viruses is mostly dedicated to epidemiological surveillance, diagnostic methods, genetic and antigenic evolution, role in porcine respiratory disease complex, recurrent infections and host immune responses.
