Jordi Casal is a professor of Animal Health at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). He teaches Epidemiology and Health Policies. His research is focused on veterinary epidemiology, mainly in diseases transmission and epidemiological surveillance. Recently he has worked especially in transboundary animal diseases and biosecurity at farm level. He is the coordinator of the Swine conferences organized by UAB and the Associació de Veterinaris de Porcí de Catalunya.

Es gibt viele offene Fragen, wie z. B.: 1) Wie wirkt sich die Krankheit in endemischen Situationen hinsichtlich der Reproduktion (unregelmäßige Rückkehr zum Östrus / Fruchtbarkeit) insbesondere bei Jungsauen aus? oder 2) Wie wirkt sich die Krankheit auf die Produktivität im Abferkelstall aus, vor allem wenn man weiß, dass Saugferkel in einem endemisch infizierten Betrieb eine Rolle als Virusreservoir spielen können?
